Clara Plattel, founder and director

Curious and connecting

Networking

From 2013 onwards Clara Plattel, in search of a better diagnosis and treatment of B12 deficiency, has been developing an (inter) national network of specialised doctors, clinical chemists and nutrition scientists with years of experience in university research in the same field. At international scientific conferences, with topics such as “1C metabolism” and “Methylation & transsulferation pathway”, she has been expanding her network, resulting collaborations and knowledge exchange at an international scientific level.

B12 Institute

In order to integrate the research results of clinical chemistry and clinical practical experience, she founded the B12 Institute at the end of 2016. This institute positions itself as an (international) center of expertise for diagnosis and treatment of B12 (and folate) deficiency and now boasts a large experience in the treatment of 2750 patients, including 500 children.

B12 Institute Research Foundation

At the end of 2019, Plattel took the initiative to set up the B12 Institute Research Foundation, where research into the causes and consequences of B12 deficiency can be intensified. Its main goals are to adapt the guidelines and develop a patient-oriented treatment.

Optimization of patient care

The secondary objective is to optimize patient care: taking longer time for patients, ensuring proper monitoring and follow-up, and seeing people as a whole. In this way, the team of the B12 Institute wants to speed up the recovery process.
